This is gorgeous, I love the colours. I had two pet budgies just like those, when I was a little girl, my brother left the door to their cage open and they flew away, even though I missed them I was quite pleased thinking how exhilirated they must have felt to launch themselves into the sky and fly away. I have never kept pet birds since, I would feel bad cooping them up and depriving them of flight.

Lovely sweet budgies, my father used to breed these when I was young, we had a white one I called Angel, I loved going in the aviary with them all. Always love your birds. Thank-you. X

Your Budgies are just amazing! I'm sitting on my computer with Lola the native australian budgie whistling away next to me. Her friends Max, Jasper, Ed and Oscar are all blue/purple and white budgies whilst she is green and yellow. We love parakeets here! I would love to have one of your works on my wall and hope that your budgies end up in your etsy store. Much love for your calendar backgrounds too. From Rach in Australia!

They tend to be quite nerdy when you try and capture them in art, but you manage to make them look adorable!

Oooh, parakeets are such sweet little birds. When I was a kid, we had one that looked a lot like the bird on the left. Sadly I went away for the weekend and one of the neighbor kids came in the house and left the cage open. Our kitty had a delightful meal. Eeep!

Ironic but just last week, as I was browsing through some vintage bird illustrations on NYPL site, I thought of you and said to myself "I wonder why Genine hasn't painted some of these colorful birds yet". They would be done justice with your artistic hands. Here they are! Hoping to see more colorful ones. PS: I love tanagers for their brilliant colors.

My grand-mother had a budgie while I was growing up and I loved having it sit on my shoulder. You've captured their adorable sweetness perfectly!

These are so sweet and perfect in that old picture mount. Just think of the fun you'll have painting accessories... funny little seed strands and brass bells; & beautifully rustic mexican bird cages

funny that you posted about using vintage photo frames...i just pulled some out of my closet this weekend and set them aside for some Christmas crafting. fun to find way to resurrect old stuff.

I had one for 9 years we all loved. He had a turquoise breast and white wings. We named him Snowflake. He could say 20 different words or sentences. He accompanied me all over the house, pulling the pins out of the quilts, walking to the edge and dropping them to the ground, fighting with the sewing machine needle (this always frightened me) sitting on my shoulder saying things like "I Love you, Je Tem, Jag alskar dig, come here, here kitty, kitty, You are so sweet, give me a kiss" with a kissing sound after and many more. I miss him. The one on the left reminds me so much of him. Thanks for this wonderful painting. I wish I could own it.
