A birdie I drew this past Sunday and new art goodies I brought back from our trip to the US. Daniel & I were like kids in a candy store at the Blick Art Store in Little Italy.
Another lovely drawing, yet again... I like the lined (schoolbook) paper it's drawn on. Hmmm, new supplies. Nothing like new supplies, a fresh book, new fabric, new sharp pencils, a fresh paint brush... The list goes on and on. But, what I'd really like is a reminder of a post from long ago, about oil you mixed for your wooden spoons and utensils.... Please?
Just a quick comment to tell you after having a bad day at school I can come to your blog for a pleasant uplifting time. Thank you for being you Dawn Wilson
Geninne - this weekend my daughter and I enjoyed a lunch out together at PF Changs and a trip to 'window shop' in an upscale little shopping center. I was so delighted to stumble upon some of your artwork! It made me smile hugely to see your small planner with its delightful birds and also your sticky notes! I loved seeing some of my favorite art in such a whimsical and fun store! (Anthropologie) :-) Clarissa
Hey! I know that Blick's store and it's a real beauty. I got all my art supplies there when we moved to San Duego. Now I'm back in Western Australia and still using stuff I bought there. Imagine the coincidence of your shopping there as well! I don't feel quite so very far away now.
After ny husband said "Really?" when I said I wanted to drive 2 hours to go to Blick's. I googled and found one just 1 hour away! I also have you to thank for my lovely camera that my hubby got me for my joint birthday/Xmas after I showed him your great photos and the camera you use. But, I think it may be a case of all the gear - no idea! Hee hee! Nic
Gennine, I noticed the Arches brand of paper. Is that a pad with individual pages or a blog of watercolor paper? I'm researching the possibilities and wondered what you recommend and use.
Thank you so much you guys, you always make me smile :) @Dawn: The Arches block is full of blank postcards. The paper is wonderful. @Dorien: I just love erasers! They are all for different kinds of ink and pencils and they vary in "hardness". The Factis one if my favorite.
Hello Geninne! New art supplies are like gold. What was your favorite find?
Just picked up Studios Magazine and there was your studio featured in article by Linda Blinn. Lovely article and the studio pics are just a treat. You have an awesome workspace. I love your work, you always inspire.
that is one hell of a fantastic doodle and i agree dilly it would look good on a bit of textiles work. please look at my blog if you have the time http://chromacave.blogspot.com/
Lovely sketching, I love Microns too! Your little white eraser that says "omg!" on it is amazing! Where did you find that?! :)
So cool and i love the ruled paper! Just back from Jerry's Artarama love love that store, they now have my CC# memorized! LOL
Ah the simple pleasures of new art supplies - sigh!

sorry for all the time spent to write comments. Geninne does not read them, or does she?? Well, she never responds ... *sad*

I'm digging this folksy style. And yes! When I enter any art store...I feel like a little kid going to Toys R Us or something. haha.
I think that little birdie wears bookhou prints on her wings... lovely!
Blick Art Store? Oh wow. I am going to Arizona on Sunday and I think, that we want to go to San Diego, too. And I swear I have to go to this shop…
I can imaging your little 'sketch' coloured as a card - it seems wasted on lined paper - too good.
What lovely brushes.. Now I must ask.. What do you do with so many kinds of erasers??
Gennine,

Thanks!
Be refreshed

A lovely drawing & on lined paper! I love Dick Blicks in Boston...Thank you for sharing your birdies!
I received my copy of uppercase a couple days ago - I forgot there was a spread in this issue on your carved stamps. It looks great!

Dreamy drawing & supply photos!
Wow that first drawing would look amazing as a piece of blackwork embroidery.
